Overview
Summer 2019 I worked with Louis Vuitton for a special, exclusive project in Chicago. Recently appointed director of menswear for the label, Virgil Abloh, designed a unique pop up shopping experience to preview the fall/winter 2019 men’s collection. The pop up was the first time pieces from the collection would be ready to purchase in-store and not having to wait until the full collection is available worldwide. I had the opportunity to assist the Michigan Avenue location with client advising and user experience for the exclusive project. By working so closely with customers and store management, I was able to design recommendations for how digital tools could be used to enhance the connected shopping experience.

About LV Chicago Pop Up Exclusive
Chicago was the city chosen for Louis Vuitton’s U.S. debut in 1893 where the Louis Vuitton trunks were initially showcased at the World’s Fair. Marshall Field’s became Chicago’s first Louis Vuitton retailer in 1905 and that long-standing relationship between the iconic luxury brand and Chicago makes the Louis Vuitton store on Michigan Avenue especially unique. With Abloh being a Chicago area native and the brand’s special relationship to the city, Chicago was the perfect choice for a temporary exclusive experience.
In celebration of Virgil Abloh's Fall/Winter 2019 collection as Louis Vuitton’s Men’s Artistic Director, the label hosted a "Chicago residency" in Chicago's West Loop neighborhood, just south of The Museum of Contemporary Art where Virgil Abloh’s “Figures of Speech” exhibition was also taking place. The residency highlighted the intersection of Abloh's work as a designer, architect, and artistic director, giving visitors an immersive experience. The space was transformed into a temporary gallery-retail environment that showcased the collection which included a limited-edition range of ready-to-wear and accessories available exclusively in Chicago.
LV PORTAL
Based on my experience as a client advisor and the business goals and sales strategies from management, I concluded that the best way to enhance the user experience for both employees and shoppers is through digital in-app personalization and visualization. By using image recognition, users spend less time searching and more time making advised decisions.
I developed the LV PORTAL mobile application to enhance the connected shopping experience for both client advisors and customers.
